What does a skip cost?

In short: from CHF 369 for a 4 m³ skip (Welaki) in zone 1, including transport, disposal and 8.1% VAT. In full: the price is made up of the waste type, the container size and the distance — and all three factors are set out openly in the table below. We publish the complete price list because you should not have to phone anyone to find out what a skip costs.

What the price is made up of

Disposal
What it costs to recycle or dispose of the material properly. Depends on the waste type — clean excavated soil costs a fraction of what Eternit does.
Transport
Delivery and collection. Depends on the zone your address is in, and on whether it is a small or a large skip.
VAT
The statutory 8.1%. Already included in every price on this page — you see gross prices, not net prices.

Transport zones

The zone is based on the road distance between your delivery address and the nearest depot. When you order, it is worked out automatically from your postcode.

Questions about prices

How much does skip hire cost in Switzerland?

At Muldex, a skip starts at CHF 369 for a 4 m³ skip (Welaki) in zone 1, including transport, disposal and 8.1% VAT. The price depends on three things: the type of waste, the size of the container and the distance between the delivery address and the nearest depot. The full table is on this page.

Why does the same container cost more at one address than at another?

Because the transport share depends on the distance. We divide the journey into four zones: zone 1 up to 6 km, zone 2 up to 11 km, zone 3 up to 18 km, zone 4 up to 24 km. An address in zone 1 pays less for transport than the same order in zone 4. Beyond 24 km, a surcharge of CHF 2.65 is added for each additional kilometre.

How much does a skip for building rubble cost?

Building rubble is usually mixed rubble or inert material. A 7 m³ skip (Welaki) for mixed rubble costs CHF 869 in zone 1, all inclusive. For pure demolition concrete or clean excavated soil it is considerably cheaper, because disposal costs less — keeping each material separate pays off in the price.

Are there any hidden costs in the price?

No. The amount shown includes delivery, collection, proper disposal and VAT. Exactly two items can be added, and both are known in advance: the per-kilometre surcharge outside the standard zones, and the hire time if the skip stays longer than 14 days (CHF 5 per additional day).

How much does it cost if the skip stays longer?

The first 14 days are included in the price. After that, each additional day costs CHF 5. This is only charged at collection, for the days the skip actually stayed.

Is a skip or a roll-off container cheaper?

Per cubic metre, the large container is almost always cheaper. What matters, though, is whether you fill it: a half-full roll-off container costs more than two full Welaki skips. If you are unsure, choose the size you expect to fill to about 80% — for safety reasons, overfilled skips may not be transported.

How quickly is the skip delivered?

We usually deliver within 24–48 hours of your order. When you order, you choose the delivery date and the half-day (morning or afternoon).

What types of waste can I put in a skip?

We offer skips for building rubble, excavated soil, mixed rubble, concrete, roof tiles and bricks, inert materials, bulky waste, green waste, waste wood, flat glass, Eternit and combustible waste for incineration. Each skip takes one type of waste only, kept separate.

Are the prices all-inclusive?

Yes. The price shown includes transport (delivery and collection), disposal and the statutory VAT of 8.1%. No hidden costs.

Which cantons does Muldex deliver to?

We serve the whole of German-speaking Switzerland and French-speaking Switzerland (Romandie) — Geneva, Vaud, Fribourg, Neuchâtel and Jura included. In Valais, we deliver to the Chablais and the Martigny area from our depot in Bex. Ticino, Graubünden and Uri are not yet served.

How do I pay for my skip?

You can choose: pay straight away with TWINT, or by invoice, payable within 15 days once the job is complete. With TWINT, you receive all the payment details (with your order number as the payment reference) by email and on the confirmation page.

How long can the skip stay?

The first 14 days are included in the price. Each additional day is charged at CHF 5 per day — shown transparently and only billed at collection.

Do I need a permit for the skip?

Not on private ground — a driveway, courtyard or building site. As soon as the skip stands on public ground, that is on the road, the pavement or a public parking space, you need a permit from the municipality or the city police. The person placing the order obtains the permit; on request, we provide the skip’s dimensions and weight.

What happens if I don’t separate the waste properly?

Each skip is filled with a single material — one type of waste per skip. If foreign material is found when the load arrives at the disposal plant, the load has to be reclassified, which causes extra costs. If in doubt, just ask us before you fill the skip.
